Its a pity that many traits of the Downs Sydrome people isnt more prevelant in the rest of society, as BN2 has said about his daughter, "she is the sweetest thing. And smart. And kind, and empathetic and funny"
We may well be much better off as a society and world if there were?
Not sure i agree about not using certain phrases, i would guess most people who use the word Mong are in no way trying to offend or suggest someone has downs syndrome, as the Urban dictionary says.
"Used against a person who says or does something completely idiotic by accident or without realisation"
There is plenty who dont like anyone using certain words, usually slang or swearing, the word CUNT is maybe number 1, but its only a word, been told im a cunt, a bit of a cunt and a fucking cunt on occasion, not sure its worth getting offended by it though!

I'm not sure that makes any sense? But converse to the the apparent dispassion, if you had come on here describing your young ladies condition and requesting donation to assist you will have found plenty firing in to help and not a hint of inappropriate wording
So, in what is likely to make even less sense, understand the glue may be unpleasant but it hold's the inherent decency of the fabric together
That aside, God bless the little one and her challenges, it sounds like she is in the best of parental hands

Best thing I’ve read on here in years.
I’ve known a few people with Down’s over the years. Phenomenal people every single one of them. Wouldn’t want to leave a couple of them alone with your last doughnut though! Cheeky bastards would have that disappeared is seconds.
I never think of Down’s when I use the word.
You do need to help us out a bit though, what the fuck do we call Kane instead? That’s a serious question.

And that’s my point.
Yes, we can all be outraged by this new culture of being offended, but we could also strive to be more compassionate if we chose.
Why would that be such a problem? Is it a weakness? I don’t think so.
Anyone can say, “But I wasn’t directing it at your kid, so you have no right to be offended”, but ultimately it’s always someone’s child, isn’t it?
I didn’t mention it in the expectation of changing anyone’s mind, but only that some might think about it. I certainly never told anyone to do anything, or not do something.
Maybe you say stuff on here you wouldn’t say on the street. And ok, perhaps we have some unspoken contract on here that understands that stuff.
And that’s fine. That’s valuable. That’s what puts us all together, binds us as a bunch of hopeful fans, desperate to see our club prevail.
All I really ask is that you consider it.
If we disagree, fine. That’s humanity.
